UK newspaper The Daily Mail, has published an article profiling the life of Apple’s SVP of Industrial Design Jonathan Ive. The most interesting point to come from the article is a quote from one of Ive’s former colleagues when asked about the recent rumor of Ive wanting to return to the UK.

I’m not sure there is any truth he wants to come back. My last conversations with him were that he was planning to sell his house in the UK.

The article goes on to tell us about how Ive became what he is today at Apple and the road he followed to get there. It is well worth reading. On a personal view, it is good to know that some of his early years were spent at Newcastle Polytechnic, based in my home town!

Apple’s Senior Vice President of Marketing, Philip Schiller has confirmed via his twitter account, that the white iPhone is still coming and will be available in spring 2011.

The white iPhone will be available this spring (and it is a beauty!).

This could be a cryptic message and it may not even refer to the white iPhone 4 as there is no mention of a specific model in his tweet. Schiller may even be referring to a white iPhone 5 which could appear before the end of spring. If we take June 21st as the start of summer and mix that with the likelihood that iPhone 5 will be announced at WWDC at the beginning of June. It may be possible to have it released before June 21st. This could then still be classed as spring. Of course this is pure speculation on our part but it would make much more sense than just releasing a white iPhone 4 at this late stage.

What do you think? Is Phil Schiller still talking about the iPhone 4 in white or could it be the iPhone 5? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!

UK news paper, The Sunday Times is reporting that Jonathan Ive, the Senior Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple, wants to return to the UK to live! Ive is the principal designer of the iMac, MacBook, unibody MacBook Pro, iPod, iPhone, and iPad.

Ive supposedly wishes to commute to Cupertino from his home, which is based in Somerset, England, and the Apple board is not exactly thrilled by the idea. A friend of Ive’s family has allegedly confirmed the dispute and told The Sunday Times:

“Unfortunately he is just too valuable to Apple and they told him in no uncertain terms that if he headed back to England he would not be able to sustain his position with them.”
Ive’s has reportedly just received a $30 million payment from Apple on completion of his latest deal, which is now up for re-negotiation. The problem appears to be that his wife Heather would like their two children educated in their own country.

iphone-4-pre-order-20100611

Phew. What a crazy iPhone 4 pre-order day! The Apple Online store went up and came down — again and again. No white iPhone 4 were available. Apple’s new Apple Store app for iPhone came out, and promptly had iPhone pre-ordering removed from its functionality. AT&T managed to disrupt service to the extent people couldn’t even complete the ordering process (or even got their account compromised). Not that the TiPb nation stopped trying.

Now as day turns to night, AT&T is sold out, other carriers out-to-lunch (since they’re too busy to announce plans, they must be…), we found out international iPhone 4 could now be had unlocked, and we’re once again rendered near exhausted by Apple’s pre-event events, we turn the comments over to you.

Celebrate, commiserate, laugh, cry, or just mellow out and chat the night away. You’ve earned it.
